Trimlight's patented aluminum channel mounts onto the underside of your eave or behind gutters and trim. The recycled-aluminum channel is color-matched to your home's roof line so it disappears against the architecture by day. LEDs sit inside the channel and connect to a controller mounted on an interior wall.
The Trimlight Lifetime Product Warranty covers components of the system for the life of those components, typically 20–30 years of nightly use. Warranty service is handled by our local Charlotte team.
Trimlight is a permanent, programmable LED lighting system installed onto homes and businesses, controlled by an app on your phone. One installation runs holiday lighting, year-round accent and landscape lighting, security down-lighting, and event scenes, all from a single system that disappears under your roof line by day.
The Trimlight control box is typically mounted on an exterior wall on one side of your house and plugs into a standard outlet. We also often mount the box in your garage or under a carport. The unit is unobtrusive, about the size of a small router, and is mounted in a discrete location. We like to mount the box outside because then we can service your system even if you are not home, but we often mount the control box in garages whenever there is no outlet in a convenient location outside.
Trimlight LEDs rarely fail as they are built to last 20+ years, however if one goes out we will replace it for you. It typically takes longer to set up our ladders than swapping out the bulb.
Trimlight installs on every type of residential and commercial structure, single-family homes, patios and outdoor living areas, restaurants, retail storefronts, churches, parks, dealerships, and offices. Common uses include permanent holiday lighting, year-round accent lighting, landscape and architectural illumination, and security down-lighting.
You pay once instead of every season, avoid the ladder-related risks of seasonal installs, stay HOA-compliant because the channel is virtually invisible by day, gain year-round usability (holidays, sports events, ambient evening lighting), keep a manufacturer warranty on the system, and pay almost nothing to run, LEDs use about 90% less energy than traditional incandescent strings.
Most residential Charlotte Trimlight installs are completed in a single day. Larger homes, multi-zone projects (e.g., main home + landscape + dock), and commercial installs may take 2–3 days. Weather can occasionally affect scheduling.
Not necessarily. A faulty RGB component affects only that single light. A faulty data-wire connection may affect lights downstream of it. Either way, the fix is straightforward, swap the affected light segment.
Most Charlotte-area HOAs approve Trimlight installs because the patented channel is virtually invisible from the street during the day. We've installed in HOA communities across SouthPark, Ballantyne, Weddington, Marvin, Lake Norman, Fort Mill, and beyond. If your HOA requires approval, Charlotte Trimlight will provide install photos, product specifications, and documentation to support your application.
With normal nighttime use, expect 20–30 years before any meaningful degradation. The Lifetime Product Warranty covers components for their useful life. Running the system 24/7 will shorten the lifespan compared to night-only use.
Yes. The aluminum channel, sealed connections, and commercial-grade LEDs are built for permanent outdoor exposure, heat, humidity, pollen, UV, thunderstorms, ice, and the occasional Carolina snow. The system is engineered for year-round installation on Charlotte-area homes.
Virtually invisible. Trimlight's patented weather-proof channel mounts under the soffits and eaves, and is color-matched to the trim along your roofline. Most homeowners, and most neighbors, can't tell the system is installed until it's turned on at night.
No. Trimlight residential LEDs won't fade, cloud over, or become discolored because they don't have lens covers and they face downward, shielded from direct sun by the channel itself.
No. Trimlight is designed as a permanent fixture, with the aluminum channel color-matched and engineered to each home's specific architecture. Trimlight typically becomes a value-add for resale rather than something to relocate.

Each Trimlight bulb uses 0.72 watts. A typical 200-foot residential install uses 120–400 watts total, meaning you can run the system 3–8 hours before adding even $0.06–$0.20 to your electric bill. For comparison, incandescent Christmas strings on the same footage would use 1000–1400 watts.
